Terms of Use

Effective date: 4 November 2026

These terms apply when you enter an access code in the AuroraFinder app and when you use the app. AuroraFinder is run by Óttar Guðmundsson, Hulduland 10, 108 Reykjavík, Iceland (contact@aurorafinder.is). If you do not agree, do not enter a code.

The short version: the alerts and images are for you and the people you travel with. Share screenshots and photos as much as you like. Do not build a service on top of AuroraFinder, and do not collect its data, without a written agreement with us.

01Your access

A hotel, tour operator or other partner gives you an access code. The code gives your phone access to AuroraFinder for a limited time. The access is for your personal use. Do not sell a code, and do not make a code public.

02What you may do

03What you may not do

Do you want to use AuroraFinder in your business? Write to contact@aurorafinder.is.

04Who owns what

The app, the alerts, the camera images and the data belong to AuroraFinder or to our partners. These terms give you a personal right to use them as section 02 says. They do not give you ownership.

05Alerts can be wrong

AuroraFinder finds northern lights automatically. Clouds, moonlight, other lights and technical faults can make an alert late, wrong or missing. The service can sometimes be unavailable. Do not drive or travel in an unsafe way because of an alert. Check the weather and the road conditions before you go out (safetravel.is).

06Liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for loss caused by alerts that are late, wrong or missing, or by a break in the service. This does not limit the rights that consumer law gives you and that a contract cannot remove.

07Suspension and the end of access

We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms. You can stop at any time, and delete your registration in the app with Settings → Forget me.

08Privacy

The privacy policy tells what data the app collects and what we do with it.

09App stores

These terms add to the terms of the App Store or Google Play, where you got the app. Apple and Google are not parties to these terms.

10Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we put the new version on this page with a new effective date.

11Law and disputes

Icelandic law applies to these terms, and the District Court of Reykjavík (Héraðsdómur Reykjavíkur) handles disputes. If you are a consumer in another country, you keep the protection that the law of that country gives you.
